what should i expect at my first visit?

A therapist will meet with you one-on-one and  discuss your overall health and specific concerns. These comprehensive evaluation sessions typically take 1 to 1.5 hours in duration. In light of symptoms, we’ll talk about any changes to your lifestyle or routines. Then, we’ll conduct a thorough examination and together, craft a plan for treatment.

What is a typical plan for treatment?

Treatment plans vary both in duration treatment modality. We give you extensive one-on-one time during each session. We work together throughout your plan of care to track progress. Our plans always incorporate tangible milestones, such as being pain-free at your desk, or enabling you to get back to the gym. These plans might also involve exercises or advice for home and outside the office—such as logging your progress in a journal, or learning exercises to practice at home.

Do you offer consultations?

During our 15 minutes phone consultations we will speak with you about your current condition, concerns or fears. We will work with you to help figure out if physical therapy will be a good option, and if not help guide you in the right direction on your path to wellness. We hope to use this time to get to know you and your health concerns. We want to get you started on the course of treatment that will best meet your needs. Please call out office or submit your information on our contact page and we can get started.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

Not at first. New York State is a Direct Access state—meaning you can visit a physical therapist 10 times or for 30 days (whichever comes first) before a referral or prescription is required.

We recommend that our patients being seen for pelvic health issues—a very sensitive area—have a referral for their second visit. We want to be able to work with your physician to ensure you receive the best possible care. If you don’t have a doctor, we can recommend one.
